Star Trek Precon Giveaway: Official Rules

The SparkMTG Star Trek Precon Giveaway (the "Giveaway") is sponsored by SparkMTG ("Sponsor"), publisher of the free SparkMTG newsletter at thesparkmtg.com. Sponsor can be reached at [email protected].

The Giveaway is open only to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are at least 18 years old at the time of entry. Employees, contractors and owners of Sponsor, and members of their immediate families (spouse, parents, siblings, children) and households, are not eligible. The Giveaway is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and is void where prohibited or restricted by law.

The Giveaway begins at 12:00 AM Eastern Time (ET) on October 12, 2026 (the "Start Date") and ends at 11:59 PM ET on November 13, 2026, the release day of the Star Trek Commander decks (the "Entry Period"). Sponsor's clock is the official timekeeper for the Giveaway.

To enter, be an active subscriber to the free SparkMTG newsletter. You can subscribe for free at thesparkmtg.com/subscribe. Subscribing is free and never requires payment.

If you are already an active subscriber on the Start Date, you are entered automatically and do not need to do anything. New subscribers who sign up during the Entry Period are entered automatically when they subscribe.

Each eligible subscriber receives one (1) base entry. To keep your entries, you must still be an active subscriber at the end of the Entry Period. If you unsubscribe, or your subscription is inactive at 11:59 PM ET on November 13, 2026, all of your entries are void. Limit one subscription per person and per email address. Entries made using multiple email addresses, false identities, or any automated method are void.

You can earn up to four (4) bonus entries, for a maximum of five (5) total entries per person:

Maximum total: 1 base entry + 3 referral entries + 1 survey entry = 5 entries.

A referral counts toward bonus entries only if all of the following are true:

Referrals made with fake, disposable, duplicate or role-based email addresses, or that Sponsor reasonably believes were created to game the Giveaway, will not count. Sponsor may disqualify any entrant who uses or tries to use such methods. The referred friend does not need to be eligible for the Giveaway for the referral to count, but must meet every condition above.

The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received during the Entry Period and on how many entries each entrant has.

One (1) prize will be awarded: one (1) sealed Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Commander precon deck, the standard edition (not the Collector's Edition), of the winner's choice from Federation Fleet, Landing Party, Klingon Fury or We Are the Borg. Approximate retail value (ARV): $74.99. The prize will be shipped to the winner's US mailing address after winner verification. The product's scheduled release date is November 13, 2026.

No cash alternative or transfer of the prize is allowed. Sponsor may substitute a prize of equal or greater value only if the chosen deck is unavailable for reasons outside Sponsor's control; in that case Sponsor will first offer the winner one of the other available Star Trek precons. Any difference between the ARV and the actual value of the prize will not be awarded.

On or about November 14, 2026, Sponsor will select one (1) potential winner in a random drawing from all eligible entries, weighted by the number of valid entries each entrant has (an entrant with three entries has three times the chance of an entrant with one entry). Sponsor will also draw two (2) alternate winners in order. The drawing will be done using a computer script with a recorded random seed, and Sponsor will keep the entry table and seed as a record of the drawing. Sponsor's decisions are final on all matters relating to the Giveaway.

The potential winner will be notified by email at the address subscribed to the SparkMTG newsletter, on or about November 14, 2026. The potential winner must reply within seven (7) days of the notification email to confirm eligibility, choose a deck and provide a US shipping address. Sponsor may require the potential winner to sign a declaration of eligibility and liability release. If the potential winner does not respond within seven (7) days, is found ineligible, does not comply with these rules, or the notification is returned as undeliverable, the prize is forfeited and Sponsor will contact the next alternate, who will have the same seven (7) days to respond.

The winner is solely responsible for all federal, state and local taxes on the prize and for any costs not listed in these rules.

Sponsor will ask the winner whether they agree to be named (first name and state, for example "Alex from Ohio") in the SparkMTG newsletter and on social media. This is optional. Sponsor will not use the winner's name or likeness for publicity unless the winner agrees, except where required by law (for example, on the winner list described in Section 17).

Information collected from entrants is used to run the Giveaway and the SparkMTG newsletter, and is handled according to the SparkMTG privacy policy. Sponsor will not sell entrant information. Winner shipping details are used only to deliver the prize.

This Giveaway is run by SparkMTG only. It is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Wizards of the Coast LLC, Hasbro, Inc., Paramount, CBS Studios or any of their affiliates. Magic: The Gathering is a trademark of Wizards of the Coast LLC. Star Trek and related marks are trademarks of CBS Studios Inc. All trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used only to describe the prize.

By entering, entrants agree to these Official Rules and to Sponsor's decisions. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete or misdirected entries or emails; technical failures of any kind, including failures of the newsletter or referral tracking platform; or shipping delays or damage caused by the carrier. If the Giveaway cannot run as planned because of fraud, technical problems or any cause beyond Sponsor's reasonable control, Sponsor may cancel, modify or suspend the Giveaway and award the prize in a random drawing from eligible entries received before the problem occurred. Sponsor may disqualify anyone who tampers with the entry process or violates these rules.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, by entering, entrants release Sponsor and its owners, contractors and agents from any claims, losses or damages arising from participation in the Giveaway or from accepting or using the prize. The prize is provided as-is, with only the manufacturer's warranty, if any.

These rules are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to conflict of law rules. Any dispute arising from the Giveaway will be resolved individually, without resort to any class action, in the state or federal courts located in Massachusetts. Any recovery is limited to actual out-of-pocket costs of entering (if any), and in no event attorneys' fees.
