Necron Dynasties is the mono-black Commander precon from Warhammer 40,000, released October 7, 2022 at $59.99. The commander is Szarekh, the Silent King. It mills itself on purpose and brings artifact creatures back, and it was the most expensive of the four sealed decks before Wizards confirmed a small reprint on October 8, 2026. This guide covers what the deck is, whether it is worth buying, the 5 best cards to add, 5 budget picks under $5, the $10 upgrade plan, and the stock 100 with the exact cards to cut. Prices checked October 11, 2026.
What is the Necron Dynasties precon?
Necron Dynasties is a mono-black artifact deck that fills its own graveyard and rebuilds from it. Szarekh, the Silent King is a four-mana 3/4 flyer that mills three cards whenever it attacks and lets you put an artifact creature or Vehicle from among them into your hand. Imotekh the Stormlord, the alternate commander, makes two 2/2 Necron Warriors whenever artifact cards leave your graveyard. The 99 is built around that loop: unearth creatures (Hexmark Destroyer, Lokhust Heavy Destroyer, Triarch Praetorian), mass reanimation (Living Death, Beacon of Unrest) and artifact payoffs (Cranial Plating, Mystic Forge, Resurrection Orb).

Is Necron Dynasties worth buying?
Yes, if you can get it near the original $59.99 once the reprint reaches stores. The singles add up to about $223 and the deck plays well out of the box. Skip the sealed deck at the $356.81 TCGplayer market price Spikey Bits reported on October 8, 2026, and buy the singles you want instead.

5 best cards to add to Necron Dynasties
None of the five below is in the stock list, and each one replaces a specific card named in the cut list further down. Prices are the cheapest printing on Scryfall as of October 11, 2026.
Ashnod's Altar (about $14): a free sacrifice outlet that turns every Necron Warrior token into two colorless mana, and the creatures you sacrifice become reanimation targets later. Replaces Darkness.
Wurmcoil Engine (about $9): a six-mana artifact creature that Szarekh can pull out of a mill, and it leaves two 3/3 Wurms behind when it dies. Replaces Sculpting Steel.
Animate Dead (about $7): two mana to return the best creature from any graveyard. The deck mills itself every turn, so there is always a target, and with Imotekh out an artifact creature leaving your graveyard also makes two Warriors. Replaces Mask of Memory.
Reanimate (about $7): one mana for any creature in any graveyard. Pay life equal to its mana value; Flayed One and Wurmcoil Engine's lifelink help buy it back. Replaces Endless Atlas.
Whip of Erebos (about $9): gives your creatures lifelink, and for four mana it returns a creature from your graveyard with haste for a turn. With Imotekh out, an artifact creature leaving your graveyard also makes two Warriors. Replaces Unstable Obelisk.
5 budget upgrades under $5 for Necron Dynasties
Every card here costs under $5 for its cheapest printing as of October 11, 2026. The five together run about $7.49.
Buried Alive (about $2.45): puts three creatures straight into your graveyard. Grab Hexmark Destroyer, Lokhust Heavy Destroyer and Triarch Praetorian for unearth, or set up Living Death. Replaces Desert of the Glorified.
Unearth (about $0.48): one mana to return a creature with mana value 3 or less, which covers most of the Necrons. It cycles for two when there is nothing to return. Replaces Barren Moor.
Scrap Trawler (about $1.37): whenever it or another artifact you control goes to the graveyard, you return a cheaper artifact card to your hand, so trades and sacrifices refill your hand. Replaces Hedron Archive.
Phyrexian Reclamation (about $2.95): two mana and 2 life returns a creature card from your graveyard to your hand, every turn, for as long as it stays out. Replaces Wayfarer's Bauble.
Myr Battlesphere (about $0.24): a seven-mana artifact creature that brings four Myr tokens with it. It is a great card to mill and bring back with Living Death or Animate Dead. Replaces Canoptek Wraith.
