Marvel Zombies Secret Lair card list
Every card links to its current TCGplayer listings. Prices are TCGplayer market prices for the cheapest existing printing, as of September 30. Reskinned cards play under their original name and rules.
Card | Appears as | Cheapest copy today | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
Original name | $4.24 | Deathtouch, and it takes half a player's life when it connects. Comes back once when it dies. | |
Original name | $0.54 | Returns every Zombie in your graveyard to the battlefield, then destroys all Humans. | |
Zombie Giant-Man | No market price yet | Grows when creatures die on your turn, then draws a card per counter when it dies. | |
Zombie Thor | $0.33 | Sacrifice any number of permanents when it enters and draw that many cards. | |
Zombie Captain America | $9.04 | Makes a Zombie token whenever another Zombie dies, and sacrifices one each end step to draw. | |
Zombie Scarlet Witch | $4.18 | Loots and gains life whenever your Zombies attack, and turns your graveyard into Zombie tokens. |
Vogar, Necropolis Tyrant's only earlier printing is another Secret Lair, so it has no reliable market price yet.
Is the Marvel Zombies Secret Lair worth it?
On card value, no. The five priced cards add up to about $18.33, well under the $29.99 non-foil price. Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver at about $9 is the most valuable card in the drop. This is the lowest-value licensed drop in the Corn Maze Superdrop.
Our take: buy it for the art if you love Marvel Zombies, or if you're building one of the zombie decks below and want the whole package in one shot. Don't buy it expecting the cards to pay for it. If you only need one or two of them, singles are cheaper.
Which zombie should you build around?
Four of the six cards are legendary creatures, and three of them lead real Commander decks.
Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver (Zombie Captain America). The best zombie commander in the drop. In blue and black, it turns every zombie death into a new token and draws a card each end step. It's the most-played of the four in Commander.
Varina, Lich Queen (Zombie Scarlet Witch). The three-color option in white, blue and black. It loots and gains life every time your zombies attack, and it eats your graveyard to make more. A slower, grindier zombie deck than Wilhelt.
Vogar, Necropolis Tyrant (Zombie Giant-Man). A mono-black aristocrats commander: let creatures die on your turn, grow it, then cash it in for cards.
God-Eternal Bontu (Zombie Thor). Better in the 99 than in the command zone. Sacrifice your tokens or spent permanents when it enters and draw a fistful of cards.
The two spells fit any of those decks. Unstoppable Slasher is a three-mana threat that comes back once when it dies, and Zombie Apocalypse is a six-mana reset that brings your whole graveyard of zombies back at once.
What the reveal means for prices
There's not much to move. Most of these cards have five or more printings already, so one more adds little pressure. Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver (about $9) is the only card with enough value to soften, and zombie decks are popular enough that any dip should be short. This is our read, not financial advice.
