Release day is April 9, 2027. Local game stores and TCGplayer are taking preorders too.
How will Midnight Sons play?
The packaging lists Gain Life and Vampires. NerdSnack reads that as gaining life and then spending it, a plan white and black Vampire decks have run in Commander for years. It is the only two-color deck of the four.
Wargamer and Draftsim both speculate that Morbius or Dracula could be a second commander, and ICv2 calls a Ghost Rider appearance likely. None of that is confirmed.
Who is the Midnight Sons commander?
Not revealed yet. Blade is on the box, and several outlets call Blade the commander, but that is a reading of the box art, not a card reveal. MTG Rocks also warned that some early deck details trace back to a Reddit post that may be fake. We will add the commander's full text here when Wizards shows it.

No card from inside the Midnight Sons deck has been spoiled. None of these is in the deck. They are main-set cards in Midnight Sons' colors. Penance Stare's Spirit of Vengeance flavor is the closest tie to the Midnight Sons team.
Penance Stare ({W} Instant, uncommon). Destroys an attacking creature with mana value 3 or less. The flavor is the Spirit of Vengeance.
Temple of Khonshu (Land, common). Taps for white or black and enters tapped unless you control a Dimension, a new subtype in this set.
The Darkhold ({1}{B}{B} Legendary Artifact, mythic). Tap it to add a sin counter and draw a card per counter, then lose 1 life per card in your hand. Its eight-mana ability sets every life total to the lowest one at the table.
Card text is from Scryfall MDD card list.

The Midnight Sons Collector's Edition (surge foil)
Every Darkhold Destiny Commander deck has a Collector's Edition, and its cards are surge foil (ICv2, ComicsBeat). NerdSnack and Draftsim report that all 100 cards in the deck are surge foil and the contents otherwise match the regular deck.
Price is the open question. Amazon US sells all four Collector's Edition decks together for $639.96, and its listing says all 100 cards in each deck are surge foil. No single-deck Collector's Edition listing or official MSRP has been posted. For comparison, Draftsim notes the 2026 Marvel Super Heroes Collector's decks had a $160 MSRP.
If you only want Midnight Sons in surge foil, wait for a per-deck listing before preordering the four-deck set.
